An outfit called "Vehicle Protection Department" called my mother claiming to be a representative of Ford, claiming that if she didn't purchase an extended warranty for her 2014 Ford Focus soon, she would not have the opportunity to purchase one after her factory warranty ran out.

Upon investigation, I found out that Ford does not contract any third-parties to sell extended warranties on their behalf. I have tried to call the phone number listed on their web site several times during regular business hours, but I always get a generic recording saying "The person at extension 121 is on the phone."
