I (hurriedly) searched in my browser for an item I wanted to buy. One of the listed items was an item at a reduced priced listed as an "early black Friday sale". I navigated to the site. The only payment option was PayPal. I bought it. In PayPal the seller name was shown in Chinese (presumably) which alerted me that it was probably a scam. PayPay would not let me cancel the order due to their policy on "pending" transactions, and told me to contact the business directly. The only way to contact the scam business is via this "scammy-looking" email address: [email protected]. I sent them an email telling them to cancel my order. They actually replied and said the item was already shipped and that I would get a tracking number via the PayPal site soon. So I replied to their email and told them that I would contact the authorities because the transaction was still pending so how could they have shipped an item for which I hadn't technically paid for yet?. I modified my payment options in PayPal so there will be no funds available when the transaction is processed. PayPal said I have to wait about three weeks before I can cancel a pending transaction.
