VA Credits/VA Loans Reports & Reviews (1)

- Washington, DC, USA

I was sought out by this loan agency via email and phone, within the last month I have been searching for personal loans to help with extra finances, so I was not alarmed when VA Credits contacted me. They called me a couple times, and then sent me an email informing me that I was approved for a personal loan, for the amount ranging from $3,000-$15,000. I emailed the contact person listed on the email, and I did not receive a response via email. I ended up calling the agency directly, and was told that I was approved for the loan, and I would need to pick a desired amount. I was always told that no money would be required up front from me in order to receive the loan.

I decided on a loan amount of $4,000.00, and I was told that the payments will be $200/24 mos. I was told that my loan will need to processed and approved my the loan officer, and I will be called back. I never received a call that day, or the next day. Every time I called, the person who was in charge of my account was never available to speak to me. I was told that he would call me back in "15-20 minutes", but the contact person never contacted me, and I ended up calling the company off and on over a course of a week. Each time I called, it always the same person who answered. On my last day of contacting VA Credits, the person who answered the phone daily suddenly had information regarding my loan status. I was told that my credit was not good enough and will require me to have a deposit of $250.00 to activate a insurance claim. I asked why would I need insurance, and I was told it was to protect me in the case of me losing my job, sick, or deemed unable to pay back my loan, and the insurance company will make payments on my behalf. I was also told that once my insurance coverage is activated, the $250.00 will be instantly refunded. I asked why cant the $250 be deducted from my principal amount, but I was told that they do not handle payments that way.

I told to call back a certain extension, and that we can process my insurance coverage. I was leery, but was told that I would receive a loan agreement before proceeding. When I called back, I was told that I can process my loan, and I was asked repeatedly do I have funds available in my bank account for the insurance activation. I told them I did, the rep told me that I will need to go to the nearest Money Gram to send to them. I told them I am not doing that, then the rep told me it was for my protection because they do not like handling credit card information over the phone. I told him I give him the authorization to run my card if he is able to, and he ran my card and asked me what was my debit pin number in order to complete the charge. I told him that is a complete violation of my privacy, and I am sure illegal for a credit company to ask me.

*The loan agreement was sent to me, but claims to be from the Dept of Veteran Affairs, I asked the rep about this, and he stated that they cover all loans for veterans. Only personal loans can be provided to civilians.
