Found ad on kijiji and auto trader for a used Toyota rav 4 2017 hybrid limited edition for $14000. The post said she was posting on behalf of her aunt and if interested contact this particular email address ([email protected]). The seller (Yvonne Chalamet) claimed it was her deceased fathers car and was located with her address in Charlottetown, PEI, and that her father lived Alberta which checked out with the carfax report which she sent to us. The VIN number provided checked out on various websites including two auto insurance companies. The seller said she could arrange the car to be delivered to us in Ontario by STS-F solutions whom she claimed she had used several times previously for transporting vehicles around. She also claimed to be a doctor. The STS-F company seemed to checked out with legitimate website. After contacting them by web chat and email, they said they would deliver the vehicle to us between 5-10 days, we would need to pay 50% deposit via credit card on their website and then upon receiving the vehicle, we would have a 10 days money back guarantee at the end of which we either pay the balance and paperwork will be done to transfer the vehicle to us, or get a full refund and vehicle would be taken back. Email communication was good including updates every few days. Due to hurricane Fiona which hit PEI at the time we made the down payment, we accepted their update that the car would be delayed for a week due to road closures etc from the hurricane (which seemed reasonable). A delivery date was confirmed. The day before delivery day, they updated us that the vehicle has arrived in our area and it would have insurance and paperwork completed and the following day would have the vehicle delivered to us by noon. This was the last communication received from them. The vehicle did not arrive nor did they continue to communicate with us. We sent numerous emails and messages to their website contact us page and left a voice mail on the number provided which provided a name Craig Novek (sp?) and we left a message. In addition the seller has been communicating via text and email but strangely the gmail address (see above) became unreachable to which she replied via text message to say that she dropped her phone and sent it back to Apple so couldn’t access her email until she gets her phone back. However she continue to reply to text messages for two more days and then no response for the 10 days and counting.

STS-F has real UK and Canada addresses but do not look like a car transport company on google map. Also we traced the merchant whom we paid the credit card amount $7000 to links to a company of the same name registered in the UK two months prior with a residential address showing on the company’s registration on the UK company registry (no record in Canada) despite their website claiming they were found in 1997.
