I was on Facebook when I saw a sponsored advert about USA green card lottery. It was free to check if you are eligible to get the green card lottery so I decided to check. The next response was ‘congrats you are eligible’ so I filled in a few more details that was required and then I was informed that I need to pay the $39 fee. At this point I wasn’t suspicious because of the huge advert on Facebook, I still thought they were legit. After I paid the fee, I get a call within minutes from a Miami Florida number and a guy sounding a bit American. He spoke about how lucky I was to be chosen from so many people and spoke at length about the immigration process. Eventually after that really long call, I was asked to confirm my credit card details, this was when I started getting uneasy, and the thought that this maybe is a scam. So I tell him sorry I don’t have my card details with me, and I’ve just stepped out of my apartment, and don’t have my purse on me. He then has the audacity to ask me to please go back and get my card details. That’s when I hang up on him. He tries a few more times to call me before I blocked his number. I’m not really concerned that they have my personal details.
