The official-looking document was received one day prior to the actual document sent by the U.S. Coast Guard. I contacted the scammer within 24 hours of my credit card payment and requested a refund. Once they denied a refund, I disputed the charge with my credit card company. After I informed them of that action, I received threatening responses up to and including the following statement, "Please take this as notice that our company will now be communicating directly with your financial institution and no further communication will be directed to you. Additionally, your account will now be entered into collections and your credit will be negatively affected."

It is unfortunate that these types of companies are allowed to operate. Beware!
