a few weeks prior to the Coast Guard sending me my renewal notice, I received a mailing from US Vessel Documentation. The mailing looked official and I replied by contacting them through the specific renewal web address given in the mailing. The web site even had a note at the top right corner which indicated that this was a new web site. Problem is, they charge $75 to renew the vessel documentation when in fact the charge is only $26.

These people pose as the coast guard service for renewing boat documentation. When you realize (minutes or a day) later that they are not as request to stop payment or a refund, they refuse. Such a scam.
