Type of a scam Tech Support
Suspecting a scam, I called the number 270-775-4284 and was told that three years ago I signed up for a 3-year plan for $399, and it was going to expire today. When I asked to opt out of this automatic renewal, the Indian-sounding gentleman told me to go to my computer so he could walk me through the cancellation process. I asked how I had paid previously for this service, and he said that information was not available for privacy and security reasons. I was put on a brief hold, then he told me to log on to www.teamviewer.com (which looks like a legit company). He asked what I saw on the screen, and then instructed me to allow cookies. Then I decided to call him out, since they're apparently gaining access through Chrome and cookies. I told him I thought it was a scam, and he told me I was too suspicious and asked me to tell him why I thought the call wasn't legit. That's when I hung up.
