Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan
A guy named Ryan Sandon, called and informed myself that I had been selected for a government grant of $7000.00. He stated that it was due to paying bills on time for the last six months and that it was nothing that I had applied for just that I had been selected. Right before the call was ended he asked how would I like to receive the funds either Western Union or Money Gram. I told him western union, then he stated that all I would have to pay is $350 activation fee to get money sent. He stated that the $350 would be refunded back to me as well. When I got to the western union I called him to see how I needed to send the $350, he informed me to get either a Steam or ITUNE gift card in the amount of $350. I did that then gave him the confirmation numbers on the back of the cards.(7 $50 each) He then informed me that I needed to call the bank out of New York to confirm my identity and the money would be sent. He told me to speak with David Johnson the bank manager. I called the number he gave me and spoke with Mr. Johnson and he informed me that I would have to pay an additional $750 for taxes in order to get the money. Mr. Johnson informed me that I would only have one hour to do this or my grant process would be canceled and I would not get any of my money back. When I told Mr. Johnson I did not have an additional $750 to send he then told me that I could send $400 and only get back $4250. The bank phone number is 1-888-985-9083 and based out of New York.
