U.S. Government - Empowerment Program Reports & Reviews (1)

Consumer received a Skype message claiming to be from their friend's mother (who is 80 years old). The message said that she won a grant from the U.S. government's "empowerment program" to help uplift citizens, and the consumer's name was on the list of eligible citizens too. The impersonator said they paid $350 in fees and received $100,000. All the consumer has to do next is text the number 607-224-2934 and they can participate in the program.

The consumer did not text the number, recognizing it as a fraud, but is concerned that others may fall for the scam, especially considering the age range of the friend's mother who was being impersonated.
