US Customs Imposter - Fake Warrant/Arrest Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

Someone called me claiming to be from U.S. customs and border control. He claimed to be Sanjeev “Sonny” Bhagowalia, Office of Information and Technology, and CBP CIO. He stated that someone stole my social security number and was using my identity to traffic drugs and to launder money under multiple bank accounts in Texas that were allegedly opened under my name. He also claimed to have found a suspicious package with illegal drugs addressed to me. At this time, this person was instructing me not to contact anyone because it was a confidential matter. He told me that there was a warrant out for my arrest and the only way to clear my name was to follow his instructions. He then transferred me to another officer who had further instructions. This second person told me I would have to close out all of my accounts and get a new social security number in order to be proved as innocent and allow them to properly catch the person who was stealing my identity and committing all of these crimes. He then instructed me to go over to my bank to withdraw all the money that I have and to make sure it was all in cash not in a form of a check. When asked what to do with the money, he said he couldn't tell me what to do with it until I had taken all of my money out of the bank. He kept saying we needed to prove to the justice bureau that I was innocent by me cooperating. He then had an additional number call me claiming to be an officer named Steven O'Conner from a Bronx police department stating there was a warrant out for my arrest and just to do what the other man was telling me to do or this will become a further legal matter and they would no longer be able to help prove my innocence. I ended up hanging up the phone when he specifically kept insisting that I could not drop the call. He also told me there were agents following me and watching me. When I had doubts and asked him if this was a scam he would say that he was now suspicious of me being involved and no longer believed I was innocent because I was not being cooperative. He called me from multiple numbers which included 347-583-8784, 915-233-0836 and 718-993-3880.
