Type of a scam Government Agency Imposter

Urgent Address Change intentionally markets itself similar to the United States Postal Service. They supposedly offer change of address services for an exorbitant fee, not boldly disclosed at the time of purchase. They do not charge you even according to the fine print listed exorbitant amount and do not file your change of address with the USPS. They provide no service and are intentionally attempting to appear as the USPS Change of Address website via paid marketing on Google.

I put in the search term USPS Change of Address and was led to the "Urgent Address Change" website. It did not prominently declare that it was not a government site. This information, and the 39 dollars the company charged me, was in small print.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

I stumbled into www.urgentaddresschange.com/ looking for USPS change of address form. The website resembles USPS in style and appearance. They charge $50 to change an address rather than the USPS $1.05.

Details are provided in the fine print, and I understand it was my error to use this company.

Nevertheless, I have attempted to contact the company 3 times via phone and 2 times via email, but despite claiming "100% customer satisfaction", "60-day money-back guarantee no questions asked," and "all messages will be returned in one hour", none of my money has been returned and no one from the company will call me back. Furthermore, my bank indicated I am set up on a recurring monthly fee to this company. My bank put a stop order on this, nevertheless, this is shady and manipulative.

I requested this service after my father died and having his mail forwarded was among the dozens of things I needed to do. This scam caught me in the middle of my grief-induced distraction. I suspect I am not the only one to get scammed under these circumstances.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

Requested a change of address online and was unknowingly charged $39.90. I received an email stating address info was incomplete. I called 877-747-4242 to request a refund (when I saw the email) and was told it will take 5-10 business days for it to process. I called back 13 days later to report no refund; and the was told it will process in a day. I called back 6 days after that and was told 3-5 days it will process. I called back 6 days after that to report no refund; and the representative hung up the phone. I called back immediately and was never connected to a representative; music just played until the call ended and I heard a dail tone. I called back 6 days later (now it's 25 days since the first call) and was told my refund was processing and to check my account; then the representative hung up again. I called back immediately from a different phone, the representative hung up after I stated my name and that I was calling about my refund which was requested 25 days ago. BE CAREFUL when changing address on line; make sure you are on the USPS website; there is a small processing fee of $1.05 when using the USPS site. UAC - Urgent Address Change claim customers have 60 days to get full refund, but they don't honor it. The customer service is horrible. The people are mean and rude.

Typed in "address change" on google and this site came up. Stated it would charge 1.00 but then charged me 39.00 dollars. No mention of this fee on website.

Went online to usps change address and ended up on their website.

Nowhere did it say you were being charged $39.90 for the address change. I’ve changed through the USPS before and it’s only $1! When calling the customer support they told me they cancelled it and I should be getting a confirmation email for the refund. To check back in 24-48hrs. Their confirmation email just states that a request has been received and a staff member is reviewing it. I have no order number nor could the person on the phone give me one. I was then put on a forever mute. When calling back I was then put on a forever hold. So I blocked my number when calling someone picked up. I asked for a supervisor and again put on a forever hold.
