United Way Charity imposter Reports & Reviews (1)

- Vancouver, WA, USA

Initially was contacted on Facebook by someone using the name and profile picture of a trusted friend. At first, the messages seemed normal, but then they shared in messenger how they had received a grant for a vast amount of money. Apparently, I could get in on it too, the person pretending to be my friend told me to email a “claim agent,” working for United Way. This led to an email conversation about how I could receive a grant that didn’t need to be reported for taxes or social security. I’m entirely reliant on social security for my survival and housing, so if I received extra income I have to report it. But apparently I could not claim the “grant” without first sending a payment of $450 dollars.
