- Dayton, OH, USA

I was on my 2007 Asus laptop at about 8:30-9:00 p.m. on May 17, 2016. I brought up my financial institution's website, Wright-Patt Credit Union. I had not logged into my account yet when a loud noise started coming out of my computer with the message on the screen saying something like, "Malicious software is attacking your computer and accessing all of your financial information. In my case, it was my savings, checking 1 Visa card, 3 store cards, and 1 debit card. I stopped immediately. I'm not sure who contacted who but when the telephone rang, do remember there was a message saying “a Microsoft technician is on the telephone". Because the message said "Microsoft technician, I thought he was legitimate. He said his name was "Bin" and he said he was a technical engineer from Microsoft. I then gave him "remote access" to my computer and he showed me files that had been affected by the malware. I have experience and understood what he was doing, I thought. He then said that my "network" was corrupted and that he could fix it temporarily. To get it fixed permanently, I could either go to a computer store and have them fix the problem or he could do it. He said the Federal Trade Commission offered a program with "lifetime network securing protection" and I would never have to pay for that protection again. He quoted 2 prices and I took the one more expensive one costing $578. I asked if they took credit cards and they said yes but preferred a check. The check was made out to S&R Services, LLC. I didn’t know how to work my scanner so the guy at S&R did it so it was an "instant" payment. The check cleared the credit union of May 20th. Bin called me on May 18th and asked me to call him if I had any problems. I wasn't having any problems until yesterday, May 26th. That's when I got another notice about a malicious attack on my computer. Bin had made a folder on my desktop called "Tech Support" and when I went there, it was empty. Then I tried to call the 1-844-802-1608 number he had given me and there was a message that no one was available and I couldn't leave a message. I know I was not very smart. I have reported this to my credit union, Kettering Police Department, FTC, and ScamPulse.com.
