I received this email. When I called they asked for my email address. When I wouldn’t give it and asked for a supervisor, they hung up on me.

If you didn't create an account using this email address, please ignore this email or unsubscribe. (yes, it actually said this)

I was concerned when I first read this Email, because I was awakened this morning at 5:07 am EDT with a call from Capital One about suspected fraudulent activity on my account throughout the night. Capital One was correct -- I was not doing early morning online shopping. This message supposedly from U.S. Technical Association, however, is clearly a phishing/scam Email. It stopped me at first because I recently did make a purchase through USTA -- the U.S. Tennis Association.

Email readers beware.

Received the following in my inbox. Called them. They're a scam. Couldn't even tell me what address that they sent this email to. Have never done business with them...don't know who they are. Sounded like a call to India...person couldn't speak English very well.

Great news! We’ve got your order #5757833C1

Did business with US Tech Support (a legit computer business) 1 year ago to update my Microsoft Office software. Received email from US Tech Support Association that my subscription was to expire and would auto renew. Thinking these were the same company, I called to cancel the subscription. The process....they made it appear they would refund the $200 subscription into my checking account. Then said they'd made an error and $4200 had been placed into my account. When I viewed my checking account, it did appear the balance was indeed $4200 greater than before. They wanted me to drive to Target, take out $4000 in gift cards and issue these to their firm. At that point I terminated both the internet and the phone connections, called my bank, ensured this bogus firm had not already removed $4000 and made changes that prevented them from accessing my account. My bank contact told me this was the 3rd such event involving Target gift cards they had handled this week.
