These two guys who go by Jack and John who are two brothers go around promoting sealcoating HOWEVER, the job is completely wrong and then they disappear and didn’t answer your inquiries. come to find out they make business cards using reputable companies that they are NOT affiliated with. I would think this is illegal coming to someone’s home and charging under the pretense that you work for a large reputable company that you have no affiliation with. they have not answered any of my calls or texts and when we wrote a negative review on a large platform they magically decided to call and tell us to take sown the review. unfortunately I fell for this and I recommended my mother who is elderly get this so he stole our money.

Man identified himself as Al Russo, the owner of United Asphalt. He came to our house in a white pickup truck with United Asphalt signage with the phone numbers above on the Extended Cab windows. He said he was doing a large driveway paving job for our neighbor's driveway across the street. He showed us a contract with them and a description of the work they were doing there. It seemed that he knew the layout of their property well enough and had a valid description of the work to be done that it seemed like a legitimate contract with them. He said he was trying to get a couple of other jobs in the neighborhood, since he couldn't start their job for a couple weeks because they were going to be out-of-town. It all seemed to be valid. He showed us other signed contracts around our area as references. We also signed a contract to have him asphalt our driveways. We gave him a $3500 check and $100 cash for 1/3 down to start the project. After he left, we started doing research on United Asphalt. He told us he was originally working out of Columbus OH, hence the 614 phone number. We couldn't find any internet references to this business in Summit or Stark County OH. We found the address on his business card to be that of the Red Roof Inn up the road. We called his 614-981-5111 number, got no answer, but he called back several minutes later. We asked for an explanation of his address being the Red Roof Inn and he said he just got those cards and they put the wrong address on them. He then told us the address was 2399 not 2939. We Googled that while on the phone and found this is not a business address either. We told him to cancel our contract, to not show up at our house to perform any work and to return our cash and check. We put a stop payment on the check before it could be cashed. We eventually found his "business" in Columbus and found out this guy's name is actually Tom Gilk and he is a known criminal and he and his family have been involved in several scam businesses and criminal activity, such as Walters Asphalt, PaveCo Asphalt Construction, Blackpatch Paving, and now United Asphalt. He has been in prison in multiple states, Florida and Indiana for sure, for burglary, auto theft, counterfeiting, receiving stolen property and numerous drug offenses. He also mentioned that he has his son, Santino, working with him.
