We received an email asking for a deck to be built. Just wants a price and there's a sense of urgency. There's several red flags for me in the email, such as it's impersonal, they usually (but not always) send an attachment that is suspicious, their english is bad, they always have an excuse that they've been 'sick' which is why they take a while to respond to emails, they don't respond quickly, and they just want a price. Sometimes they'll 'hire' us right away without actually chatting or meeting us in person. I've received these types of emails a handful of times in the past, and in doing my due diligence discover the house is always listed for sale on mls. (as this one is). I've checked with the realtor on this particular house, this is not the homeowner, or even the people living there. I'm not sure what they're trying to gain by doing this, I'm guessing they want to provide payment to us which ends up being an 'overpayment' which they then want us to issue them a cheque for the extra money, meanwhile their cheque bounces? Has the ScamPulse.com received reports of these types of scams in the past?
