I found a home on zillow to rent, I submitted an inquiry about the property, the landlords reached out to me via text message to ask me some questions and to send over the rental application. Once I filled out and submitted the application, I was notified by the landlords that the property would be mine and it required a security deposit. THe landlord requested the security deposit on paypal through friends and family. Unknowingly about friends and family on paypal, I sent over the money for the deposit. When the time came closer that the rental property would be vacated for me to move into, I reached out to the landlord whose phone number was no longer in use. This is when I realized that I was probably scammed and I put alerts out on paypal as well as discover. Once I put out the alerts, I received a text message from an unknown number who ended up being the alleged landlord. I requested a refund on the security deposit and he told me that he would not send money back until I closed the disputes. I continued to ask for the money back and he ignored me.
