Total money lost $2300

Original written quote : $300

Date : 28 March 2021

I found these movers on Kijiji, and the person I was in contact with (named Lora) gave me a quote of $50/hr for three movers and a one time fee of $50 for the truck/fuel. I booked for 5 hrs because the distance is only 3.5 kms.

Original appointment was at 3 pm, but they came late around 5 pm.The movers apologized for the delay because they were stuck in heavy traffic. I asked for 1 big truck, instead they brought 2 small trucks with 4 men. One man like a supervisor and his name is Adam came inside and looked around the house. Called me and my husband and said we have to pay $800 deposit. We refused to pay $800 and immediately he phoned his supervisor and said the supervisor wants to talk to us. Supervisor said ' it is only an advance and we will repay the balance'. Finally we agreed to load. Adam wrote something on the invoice and gave to my husband. My husband got pressured and signed the contract in a rush. They started loading stuff very slow and took their sweet time. In between they took a break for an hour for dinner. They finished their loading at 10pm.. After loading all our items into their truck, Adam came inside and asked an additional deposit of $800 They only accept cash as payment, so I went to bank atm and withdrew another $800 , at this point all of our things were being held hostage.

After receiving this second deposit, they stopped at a gas station before moving my items to the new house, where their manager gave them a final huge bill of $ 4,146.25 for me to pay with extra fees in cash. They issued 2 invoices and I attached truck 1 invoice and the truck 2 invoice is also the same amount. Since there is no provision for the 2nd invoice attachment, I couldn't able to attach the 2nd invoice. We were not expecting such a high bill and we came to know that these people are scammers and blood suckers. They said they would not move from the gas station until they received the rest of the cash. Finally my husband went to police station and complained. Finally these scammers came to the police station with 2 trucks load of our stuff. They were not afraid of cops and argued and used all the 'f' words. Halton police were very patient and cooperative. Since we were not ready to pay the remaining huge amount, scammers agreed to unload our stuff to the same old house. We came back to the same old house with police escort. They started unloading our stuff on the driveway and it was midnight. In half way of unloading, Adam called my husband on the phone from the truck and started negotiating with us. If we are ready to pay another $1,600, they would unload the stuff into the new house. We didn't agree initially and they came down to $1000 and we said 'ok'.

Again they loaded all our items from our old house driveway and drove to our new house. We followed the movers again with police escort. Allan was cursing loudly all through the moving on our street. One of the cop told him smoothly to lower his voice. Because it was a big disturbance to our neighbourhood and embarassment to us. Movers unloaded our stuff and kept all the stuff on the main hall way and garage. They refused to go inside the house and keep our stuff. We also kept quiet because we wanted all our stuff to be unloaded safely. Finally they left one furniture on the driveway. One police woman went and told him to keep inside. They didn't care and left. Both cops helped us to bring the furniture inside. We are really grateful to the cops for their full support and help. We couldn't have managed our move without their full support. A big salute to our Halton Police. It was 3am all our items were unloaded.

Our furniture got damaged and mattresses got dirty and they dented the walls in several areas in the property. We are retired people and they took $2,600 from us for terrible moving service. We were terrified and couldn't sleep properly since 28th March2021. If the cops didn't come, we could have lost more money. Cops were very understanding, cooperative and helpful.

I think it is a big gang cheating the innocent public like us. They are blood suckers and have to be punished severely and the company should be sealed completely. They advertised a professional movers, but the invoice shows 'Triple Star Movers"

Do NOT book with anybody on Kijiji or elsewhere with the subject line on their posting of "LOW COST MOVING $40/HOUR - INSURED AND RELIABLE". They keep giving advertising in different names and showing different numbers. Their number is 647-616-6803 and 416-819-7506 . They were using different phone numbers.

On March the 22nd, I contacted a man called Ricky about a short one bedroom, living room kitchen table and about 22 boxes, they reply said it would be $40.00 travel fee and $40.00 per hour, they were to show up at 11.00am, they showed up late and before they would start asked me for $350.00, this seemed fair and I went to the bank and got the money, gave it to the driver/helper, they loaded half a 16foot truck, not to the top with my stuff then told me to follow them while they went to get gas, once we were several kilometers away at a gas station they said I needed to pay another $303.00, this seemed a little high but to end the job I thought I would just pay, I gave the money to the Drive/Help, once I did this he said he would not move as the job would take longer than 4 hours and wanted another $975.00, I had to run to my bank and get him this money (I called the Ajax Durham Police who said they would not help) and told the drive this was outrages and demanded a HST number, he just said he would not move until I paid, with zero options I had to Pay.
Once he arrived at my new apartment 800 meters away from my old apartment he said due to me running around to get money he would need another $253.00, I tired to call the anti fraud phone number but only get a voice mail telling me to file this on line, which is next to impossible, when I got the final invoice it was from a company called Triple Star Movers, I googled it and to my surprise they have done this to others, even a article in the Toronto Star, and owner being Charged With Fraud in the Past, What should I have done differently I have all the Papers to support my Claim, yet no one seems to really care, also the HST Number verbally given to me was 893002456R1001 and I believe it is false, so not only did they defraud me but I believe they have Defrauded our government, What can I do?
my name is Kelly McCarthy, I live in Ajax Ontario and can be contacted @ 647-217-9298

These are the same guys

The first guy above is him for sure, and need to confirm who is in the second photo as he is holding a Triple Star invoice in his hand

I am actually trying to confirm if he is Dogan Celik on the photo. He has a mask, can not confirm myself. Thanks

YES THIS FELLOW DID ALL THE DIRTY WORK, ASKING FOR MORE MONEY AND ALL

The moving company agreed on $225+tax for 2 guys and a truck for 4 hours of move through Kijiji messaging prior to moving, and on the day of the move, 3 men showed up 25 minutes later than the reserved time (12:25pm), asked me to sign a contract and pay a deposit of $300 before they start moving. After they loaded everything, they said they need to refill the gas and I need to follow them to the gas station. When I arrived there, they told me I have to make another deposit of $200, and after that, they asked me to pay for the additional hourly rate. And they wrote me an invoice of $1606.83. I said it was not what I agreed to, and they argued it's all based on the contract, and said they'd unload everything at the gas station if I don't pay there. I suspected possible fraud or scam, called the police hoping to resolve the issue but the police didn't arrive for an hour, and the mover kept threatening me that I'd be charged extra or all my stuff will be unloaded at the gas station. That left me no choice, so after waiting for an hour I let them start moving stuff into my new place. They were inexperienced and were taking too much time, so I asked one of them if they'd be able to finish on time, and they said yes since I paid it all. But when it turned 4:20pm they said I have to pay extra for the remaining or they would leave. By the time less than half of the stuff was moved, and they left irreversible damages to my furniture and my property, because they did not use any of the protective gear they promised to use. I refused to pay and they left everything as it was, after completing less than half of the move. All these actions by the movers seem planned ahead by changing conditions and terms at the last minute so I couldn't refuse, and it appears there have been other victims.

I found these movers on Kijiji, and the person I was in contact with (named Ryan) gave me a quote of $45/hr for two movers and a one time fee of $45 for the truck/fuel. No other fees were mentioned. They also said I could book for only 1-2 hours as I would not require much more than that for my one bedroom apartment.

The movers showed up late, unapologetically and forced a contract on me without giving me time to review it before starting to move my items into their truck. I felt pressured to sign right away because I had reserved these movers, however the contract itself is very convoluted. I was required to give a $250 deposit in cash prior to them starting the move and had to pay for a minimum of 4 hours at a rate of $45/hour per mover (so $90/hour). I tried to call the manager to get clarification, however the man on the phone was quite rude and flat out lied to me saying I would be reimbursed from the amount not used from my deposit once the move is finished if it's under the 4 hours. At this point the movers already started loading my things into the truck so I felt I had no choice but to sign. An additional deposit of $150 was then enforced on me after all of my items were already loaded into their truck. They only accept cash as payment, so I had to get more cash as at this point all of my things were being held hostage.

After receiving this second deposit, they stopped at a gas station before moving my items to the new apartment, where their manager gave them a final bill for me to pay with extra fees (of course only in cash). I was not expecting such a high bill, so didn't have all of the cash on me and they would not move from the gas station until the received the rest of the cash. Once I was able to get the cash to pay them, they finally started the truck to move to my new apartment.

The "movers" sent did not work well together, making me feel uneasy about the safety of my items. I was even worried about the health and safety of the movers themselves, as one of them was constantly winded and coughing throughout the move, barely able to tolerate wearing a face mask. He mentioned he was diabetic and didn't even want to take on the job.

The movers dropped some of my furniture, causing dents in my dresser drawer, and they dented the walls in several areas in the property they moved my furniture to without any remorse. I contacted the manager to receive reimbursement to fix the walls, however have not heard back from them (no surprise there). They claim they charged me for insurance, and even charged taxes without any GST number, however I do not expect to receive any compensation for the dented walls.

Do NOT book with anybody on Kijiji or elsewhere with the subject line on their posting of "LOW COST MOVING $45/HOUR - INSURED AND RELIABLE"
