I initially received a couple of emails that looked like they were from the USPTO, regarding the trademark application I submitted. The emails said that my trademark had been accepted. A few hours later, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the USPTO. The caller knew all of the information I had submitted for my trademark application, including my name, PO box, and email address (this information is searchable through the trademark website). They asked for $425 and said that if I didn't pay right away, the amount would double. I told the caller that I didn't feel comfortable sending money over the phone since I didn't know if they were actually from the USPTO. The caller said to Google the phone number and see that it was from the USPTO, which was true. I ended up not paying anything, but I'm worried that my identity could have been stolen.
