Sam offered to "expedite" the process of getting a serial number, which you normally get right away, by hiring an "attorney" who could do it in 5-7 business days (of course, requiring us to pay them more). As someone who has filed multiple trademarks myself, I know that you get one right away. He continued with this lie multiple times, even when I called him out on it. I was so angry at him, I almost forget how annoyed I had been about the fact that he had unnecessarily filed the trademark in two additional classes, costing us at least $700. I then asked him to just withdraw the application so I could refile it correctly myself, but he didn't seem to know how to do this (Sam/Jack claimed that he didn't have the authority to do this, which seemed odd since he was now presenting himself as the "project manager").
It seems like he took a screenshot of a genuine trademark application once, and then changed the serial number box to "To Be Issued", and then sent this as a confirmation to all his ostensible "clients". So, he didn't even go through the motions of trying to file a trademark. Also, he charged us $1400, which is the same amount as he would have theoretically had to pay the USPTO had he legitimately filed the trademarks. So, if he operated legitimately, he wouldn't make any money.
