Big Daddy towing posted two signs at Peninsula Grove Apartments began towing same day. Sign says 150.00 but when you go to pick up your car it is 170.00 and cash only. They could have gave written notice without towing. I was told by one driver they normally give 30 days to vehicle owner before towing. I feel they are practicing predatory towing.

A persons car was towed from their designated parking spot in their apartment complex where they have lived for almost two years. It was towed between the hours of 1am-4am. They were then forced to pay to get her car out of an inpound lot that was not properly secured. The breakdown of the price mentioned was that she was being charged for gas surcharge, maintenance surcharge, overnight fee, and regular tow fee for picking up the car at 11am the same day it was taken. GPS was used to locate the car. The impound lot did not check any form of identification or proof that the car belonged to the person and they did not give a receipt. The people were very hostile and rude. The business also looks like it is on abandoned property and hidden behind boarded up houses.

This Company was contacted by the police after I called them to report my car was stuck in the mud in a front yard of a home for sale. This company sent a truck with a winch and spent 20 minutes at the address to pull me out of the mud. I was not towed. I was charged $450 for what would any reasonable person would expect to be no more than a $200 charge. While it may be technically legal, it is ethically wrong and should be considered criminal gouging.

I parked in a parking lot going to a community farmers market on Colley Avenue in Norfolk, VA. I was at the farmers market maybe 4-5 minutes. I come back and my car has been towed. They demanded I go to the gas station across the street to get $190 in cash or they will keep my car behind the locked gate. They would only accept cash. After I paid them, they refused to return my car to me until I showed them my license and registration even though I had the keys to my car in my hand. I suspect them of tax evasion, considering they would only accept cash and clearly had no bookkeeping system as he put the money directly in his pocket. Anytime there is a community event happening, they are hiding their tow trucks near by and waiting on people to park. Clearly predatory behavior and inappropriate for punishing people trying to support the community.

They have a website for towing and roadside assistance. I called the number on the website to determine their wait time for a tow. The guy told me 75 minutes. I put in the service online. A receipt was sent. I waited an hour, no one contacted me. I cashed back to ask about my services. The guy asked if I have a job number. I said I was sent a receipt but no job number. He got upset about me asking questions. He gave the phone to another person. The new person was rude and did not want to hear what I had to say. He stated he was just going to cancel my service and hung up on me. I called back and my number was blocked. I called back from Google voice and they would not answer my call. The phone would ring and go to voicemail. I have been calling for two days. No response. I emailed their dispatch and the person who sent me the receipt. No response.

On Sunday, 12/11, because of the icy ground, my car slid on the rocks by the road. I contacted a towing company named CNY Towing & Recovery later, and they came with two trucks to tow my car up and to their company 6 miles away.

They charged me $1500 for the above recovery and towing service.
