On February 24, I was looking for a virus protector for my phone. I saw an ad on total AV for a reduced price so I clicked on the ad. The price significantly lower than most so I looked at it and decided to try it. I downloaded the app. When I went to open the app, it offered me other services. I picked one to reduce ads. So I kept going and everything that it offered which I thought would be included was another 799 which was frustrating and nothing would move forward. so I googled the phone number for support. Gentleman answered and said this is David at support which I assumed was totalAV. I explained the situation and then I was angry that everything cost $7.99 and I thought I had paid for the app to work. He said let me check on it. He came back and said oh my you have people out there who have your information must be out because you have $6000 in purchase cards and electronics, etc.. I have had Fraud in the past so I guess I believed him he said let me check and I can figure this out for you and fix it. He came back and wanted to know what banks I had money in so I told him. I did not give out any account information. And then he didn’t ask me if I had cards and how many and what the names were so I comply. I did not give the numbers of the cards. Then he said let me transfer you to our Credit experts and they will fix this. The Credit expert came on the line and said OK we can we can stop this but we have to do a few steps so I said OK. I’ve already talked to the gentleman and he said here’s what we need to do. We need to get a TotalAV on your phone and what you need to do is go to a store and buy a card. He said do you have a Hy-Vee close which I’m sure he already knew. I said yes we do. He said you need to go to the store and get a card. At that point I said what credit bureau do you work for or what one of the three and he said you know that I said no I don’t know that I wanna know who you work for at that time. I figured out this is a scam and I hung up immediately afterward I’d called Experian and paid for a lifetime protection on all my information. Today I called the number back and it is the same David who answered I hung up. Then a number called me back from Nogales AZ 502-592-8005 saying this is support. Website I clicked on yesterday would not come up. As I look now, there are other people that say total AV is a scam and do not access them. They are looking for money for an app that doesn’t exist and also additional funds due to a gift card, etc.. Whether to TotalAV is a business or not. I do not know, but they are a dangerous option to the public.

This company uses malware to advertise ways to remove malware. When you click on the link, it brings you to their website and forces more downloads. If you contact their support line they tell you that they can't help you unless you have a paid account. How is this company allowed to exist? I don't know how I got the malware, I'm usually pretty careful and it seems to be gone now after using a proper anti malware program that I trust.

I was getting ad's telling me I have viruses on my computer, when I tried to download their program it said it wasn't working, I talked to their tech support who was persistent that I sign up and kept telling me to download and disable Windows security features to install their product. After contacting my computer manufactuer (System76), I found out from them that this was a scam, because my computer has Linux, not Windows like TotalAV was telling me, System76 insured me this was a scam because Linux can not get viruses so the TotalAV Ad was lying, my computer does not have viruses and the TotalAV ad was trying to scam me into buying their product by telling me I had viruses when it's not possible for my computer to get them.
TotalAV tech support quickly got off with me as soon as I addressed this about this which only further proves being caught red handed with their misleading fraud ads tricking the unsuspecting into buying their fake product.
