Suspicious booking process and late-night support call from Topflightfares

I was using a site that led me to multiple other sites to books cheaper flights. I wasn’t sure how to tell what’s legit yet or not, but I went for the best price with the closest needed dates on Topflightfares.com. Immediately after putting in purchase info I received an email from [email protected] saying my confirmation is pending, followed by a support phone call at 9pm. First to me then my boyfriend who’s information was in the checkout. First they wanted name and reservation number for confirmation and then said the flight wasn’t actually available and that they had other options for different days or airports if we’re willing. I was already unsure this was real so I told her to cancel both tickets and froze my credit card before it showed any pending purchases so I’m not 100% if it was a scam but it did not seem right.
