I was contacted from my résumé off the unemployment office Cal jobs portal I received a text message that they thought I would be the perfect candidate for the new headquarters that was being built in Los Angeles California this was a bio technology company out of Switzerland. I was told that we would communicate via Skype so I downloaded the app and continued my conversation with a man named James McDaniel age 57 He provided me with information about Topadur Pharma ag and what the culture of the company was it seemed like a pretty legit website. I continued to answer all the questions that he was asking me, all work related of course. He said give me 30 minutes so I contact my supervisors and see if you are a perfect fit for our department about an hour pass by I scored a 7.5 out of 10 and then on Monday I would receive my acceptance letter via email which I did as he stated I would. However the email used was not of a company but rather a Gmail account which set off an alarm. I started to do my research and see if it was such thing that people do tend to scam and turns out it was I asked him if there was a taxpayer ID number or headquarters here in the United States anything that I could go off of and consider maybe it wasn’t a scam. His respond was my supervisor will contact you shortly. And he became very upset saying do you still want to continue? I said of course just provide me with the legal documents which you should have on hand. So then I moved forward and told him I know that you’re scamming me and possibly other people and I’ve reported you. I also told him it’s very wrong what they are doing to people. He replied with OK good and I’m sure you’ve done much worse. It’s iunfortunate that people are targeted especially when they are unemployed and seeking jobs and the way that the world is set up that it’s much easier to post your résumé and recruiters can find you and you can find jobs and apply but it also makes it very alarming to know that it’s this easy to be targeted I’m glad I’ve looked into it and I’m also glad I caught it before I sent the money or they sent me a fake check which they did say that the check and the tracking number was on its way. I just wish that there was more awareness On these types of scammers to other people.
