I was heavily anticipating the release of Hello Neighbor 2, a game in the popular Hello Neighbor franchise. From mid-2020 to the release of the standard edition on December 6th, 2022, several features were marketed in trailers and interviews. This includes but is not limited to an artificial intelligence that uses neural networks to outsmart the player, a large open world set in a fictional town called Raven Brooks, a sandbox playstyle, and varied interactions with the town's residents. However, two days before the release of the deluxe edition on December 1st, the mention of the game's neural network was mysteriously removed from the description of the game on the Steam Store. Then, when the deluxe edition came out, I discovered that not a single thing from the trailers was included in the game. There was no neural network, the open world consisted of a few streets with the major locations right next to each other, and the player could only interact with a few key items, defeating the narrative of it being a "sandbox" game. The deluxe edition costs $60 in the US, and I was expecting a high-quality game that would take several hours to beat. Instead, i got a two-hour game with none of the advertised content.
