I was contacted by someone who saw my info on Indeed for a data entry job from the email [email protected]. They scheduled an interview with Shawn Cumiskey ([email protected]) and I did an interview via Microsoft teams. They offered me a job and sent me paperwork from George Lawthom ([email protected]) like an I-99 and w-4. After that was completed, Shawn they he would send me a check for office supplies and it will include a $100 sign on bonus. When I recieved the check the next day, I noticed it was a different name than the company I was supposed to be signing up for, and I requested a cashier check instead so I don’t deposit the check directly in my bank account. Shawn immediately became defensive but after a couple minutes of back and forward agreed to send me one. Communications then started to get very limited, with Shawn saying that the check was pending. After the third week, I was going to message George, who did all my paperwork before, but then I decided to look up all the names that contacted me. I realized that all the names were already reported (as scams), and I immediately froze me credit score info and got new IDs made for what they had requested that info for “onboarding.”
