Walked Off Job - Left Man-Lift on Front Lawn

Tim & Christina Dilweg left after only finishing one-eighth of my painting/caulking job. I provided a man-lift to aid them and they insisted on renting it in their name. They gave me a quote of $4,250 and I paid them $3,500 up front. The $3,500 was to rent the man-lift for one week ($1,200). They only showed up for five (5) days (25 man hours) and only did one (1) side of my home for the entire time. They rented a 45' man-lift (which I told them not to do -- wanted smaller) which ruined my lawn. From their actions, it appeared that they were trying to find a reason to bolt from the beginning. They purposely rode on my neighbor's lawn (told not to). After the one week, my hubby gave them another $1,000 cash to rent the man-lift another week. They then demanded another $2,200 to continue, they bolted and left the man-lift for my husband and me to figure out how to get it removed. I took them to court ($250) and they screamed and yelled that we let them out of the written contract by claiming that hubby "shook his hand." Unfortunately, the judge sided with the Dilweg's and only ordered them pay the back $1,000. I have been told since them that their are many cheaters in the Grand Strand/MB area. Beware-- do not give these cheaters a penny before the job is done to your satisfaction.

Tim Dilweg presented himself as a painter. He gave as an estimate of repair and received 50% as a down payment in advance. Starting date should be the 6 th of March

Never came to start the job. Numeros times we tried to get in contact with him. His wife’s respond always was that he has to finish another job or car broke down. Then he said he is coming but later as planned. Never gave us an idea how late. Now he refuses to pay back our down payment. We cancelled appropriately the contract. I am disabled/bed bound MS.
