Thumbtack claims to connect you with professional providers that are local and vetted for free which is false. They do a background check on the owner which really means nothing. They do not check the employees etc. If a company is fully legit and certified they still go off a background check meaning you might still hire inexperienced people to do the work. Thumbtack sends leads to multiple people at the same time to bid on the same job at a fee to the actual providers. So if you are a provider you might pay and still not get the job. They claim many things but i think if you are looking for a professional you should check local listing and find actual companies that are registered, insured, certified and do your own vetting from there not through a third party which is what Thumbtack is! Why should small businesses have to pay big businesses that know nothing of the crafts that we do to stay relevant! Instead of paying these big companies work on your own profiles through all the advertising means that are out there. Thumbtack is a leech preying on desperate people looking for work!
