I was initially contacted and was proposed a remote position making $35/hr,it sounded too good to be true but I was hopeful. Sandra Carter said they found me on Indeed where I have been looking for remote work. I had a phone interview with another employee, for the most part things seemed on the up and up. I was told I would start the following day at 8am. The day I started I was asked to download an app called Telegram, which appeared to be a messaging app. We communicated through there from then on. I was told it was a 14 day probation period including free training and I would be sent a work laptop in 3 days along with a corporate bank form, which I assumed would be for processing customer payments. I was told I don't fill out a W4 until after the 14 day probation, instead I would have to fill out a W9 once all was approved by the accountants. When I asked what that meant she danced around the answer and the sent me my 1st task. My first task was to use my own bank account to accept $1000-$5000 from the customer, withdraw it from my account and head to the nearest bitcoin location and turn it into bitcoin. Well, that seemed odd to me, 1st day on the job and they're going to trust me with that much money in my personal account?? When I asked her about it she said, we have all of your personal information, we trust you, what can happen? So I pushed a little harder because those red flags were flying and alarm bells were ringing. After that message from her I got a couple more in a matter of minutes asking me to please explain, so I told her my reservations, they had asked me to prove I wasn't a scammer by either taking a picture of myself signing the document, which I couldn't do because I didn't have a printer, or taking a selfie of myself and an ID, which I did. I also pointed out that they reached out to me when I did not apply, they're offering me $35/hr 40hrs a week, they want me to put a significant amount of money in my account and I'm concerned for a scam myself. She then told me that they may have made a mistake in my canadacy and to have a good day and good luck. I have not heard from her since.
