Person had kittens for sale on a website, thefancybritishshorthair.com. We wrote email to inquire. After responding by email that the first kitten we were interested in was not available, the second one we liked was available. They promised quick delivery, even next day, from Oklahoma to Texas, by shipping company. They wanted payment of $800 including kitten and shipping. We sent payment via paypal to [email protected] Exactly at 3 pm 2 days later (they failed to ship the following day as they promised, already red flag), when kitten was supposed to depart, a fake looking text insisting to be [email protected] requested $1000 deposit using Cash.app. They said that at the last minute the airport denied the kitten transport because the seller had supposedly brought an unapproved crate. They explained the $1000 would be a deposit for some fancy temperature controlled crate and that the money, minus $50 would be reimbursed once the kitten arrived at our house. They said they needed this ASAP to ensure the pet's health and life. We called the seller but never answered the phone, but she answered our email after half hour and explained that she talked to the transport company and to please go ahead and pay them the money as they are requesting. By this time, this "shipping company" continued to ask for the $1000 even 2 hours after flight should have departed. Seller answered twice, did not answer our concerns about why we are being charged additional shipping costs beyond what was agreed upon, and kept saying to go ahead and pay the $1000 to this shipping company, that it was "ok" and she spoke with them. The shipping company phone was 512-253-4787 from Paige, TX, as per my caller ID. It was a man with an accent, the call connection was very poor, could hardly understand him, and they continue to insist we needed to send this money if we wanted them to ship the cat, and refused to call the seller, saying it was our responsibility now. Seems both the seller's website and the shipping issue are all a scam created by the same person.
