A survey came to me via Survey Monkey. The survey was from The Facts Research, Inc. They wanted my name, address, e-mail and phone number. The job was to be a secret shopper at the nearest Wal-mart. I would be paid $300 to send some money via their Money Gram service. I was also to do other things like note the name of the cashier, Customer Service standard (what ever that is), Time in and out of the store and a few other things. I didn't respond to their e-mail but was sent a text asking me to respond which I did. Five days later I get an envelope delivered by the USPS. In it was a single sheet of paper describing what I was to do plus a check for $1727 to cover my "pay",transfer expenses, and the $1350 I was supposed to send to someone in Dallas, TX.

The next morning I called the bank the "cashiers check" was drawn on and they confirmed they were having problems with this scam and the it was indeed bogus.

I was pretty sure this was a scam but decided to play along. One thing that gave them away was the survey via Survey Monkey came to one of my e-mail address and I gave them a different one. The request to verify my request to become a secret shopper came to the original e-mail address.
