I did a search for affordable car rentals and thecarrental.com popped up, then I did a google search for their ratings, they had over 1000 reviews with a 4.8. They also have an (1888) number to call, so I called. I spoke to someone named Alena. After talking to her regarding the type of vehicle I wanted, she placed me on hold for about a minute. She got back on the phone and informed me that she had something similar to the what I wanted it would be $540 for the week, I said ok fine let’s book it, she places on hold again. She comes back to inform me that they have been experiencing issues with there system, the only car that they can accept is an American Express credit or gift card. I told Alene I did not own an American Express credit card, so she said I can load an American Express gift car give her the numbers and she can place a reservation for me, so I did as she asked. She then gave me an address (that wasn’t too far form my house) where to pickup the car. I went to the address with a friend of mine, this address was for *****. ***** was closed when I got there, so I called the (1888) number asked for Alena, I was told that she was busy and she’ll give me a call back. She called me like 3 minutes later, I explained to her that ***** was closed, she told me that the driver was on his way he should be meeting me in another 20 minutes, I asked her if the driver can just meet me at my house and she agreed. They have my physical address, Email, and phone number. After an hour and a half of waiting for the vehicle I decided to call back, but there’s no answer. I called several times but no answer, not even and answering service. I decided to call from a different number (which they answer). I asked for a supervisor, he allowed me to explain the situation. I then asked for a refund, he told me in order for me to get a refund I have to load another car with $200. So I went back an forth with him for a minute then tells me that I should wait till Monday, today is Saturday. So basically I won’t be getting my $540 back.
