My elderly mom got call from the above Logan Peterson of "The American Gaming Commission" and said because she had used her credit card at WalMart she qualified being a good customer, to having her name put in a sweepstakes entry that she won 1st place to the tune of 1.2 million dollars. There was a 2nd place winner of $350,000 also. She had to call the "Bank of America Check Verification Center and give an Ck ID #:*** and an Alpha Numeric Customer ID# *** at their Toll Free Line Center #: 1-888-500-3133, select option 2 when operator comes on the line. They go on to say that due to FDIC insurance regulations since it was over the insured limit of $250,000 that we'd need to pay $1200.94 to cover the insurance overage . We could have it wired directly to them and it would be 100% refunded upon receipt of the $1.2 million to our bank. That we could get with Chrisanny Carter who was the Chief Accountant licensed by and from FDIC group. She would help us with the transfers.

I told them no, that wasn't happening until my bank manager at Lakeside National Bank veryfied it with Bank of America managers first. They said no problem.

Not being familiar with FDIC regs on money exchanges, and insurance regs I wanted to speak with her first. She called the Toll free Bank of America Verification number and spoke to a Nancy White who said - "you know this is a scam right?". Then we called this Logan Peterson back at 917-336-5401 and low and behold it was answered by a police officer who said, "NYPD, May I help you?". I said "is this a joke? " He said, "No, this is the NYPD!". Asked me my name, ....I explained what happened and he said they are using these phone jacks that transpond phone numbers, but can be traced back. He said he would inform his bosses of the scam and apprise Bank of America in New York. I told him I figured he'd want to know as they are giving out NYPD phone number as Bank of America and targeting elderly people, my folks being in their 80's. He said he'd tell his boss and asked where I was from....I told him Sulphur, La. He had a good laugh on that one!

Thought you might want to put the word out! I'd call it "The Bank of America Sweepstakes Ploy!". Using FDIC regs just enough to make it appear plausibly real but asking for extra insurance money to cover the overage above $250,000. Wanting to put you in contact with a Chief Accountant of the FDIC, etc. Saying if you choose to not accept it, then what charity would you like yours to go towards and they'd donate it in your name to it. Real cons!

Just thought you'd like to know...advise elderly & unsuspecting public, the Bank of America, and the NYPD of their unknown use in this scam and of extra phone calls they might receive as a result of these joker's!
