TEP Reports & Reviews (3)

Nathan called me claiming to be a Tucson Electric Power associate. He knew my name, last 4 of my social and my address. After he told me autopay was canceled, due to a change in TEP terms & conditions, he said that I was overdue 2 months and convinced me to use Zelle (a new service offered through my bank) to wire the money. Since I didn't already have an account with Zelle, it was going to take 24hrs. After I sent the payment twice and it refused to post immediately, he then suggested that the only other solution is a prepaid card. Which I then proceeded to go get. The woman at the dollar General said she'd heard those particular prepaid cards were connected to phone scams and suggested that I call my electric company. TEP then informed me that I am paid up to date and the next bill is scheduled for two weeks from now. My auto bill pay was never canceled. But Nathan managed to get the funds before my bank could stop the payment. I have filed a claim through my bank. But Nathan is still calling me from the same number trying to get the funds from my prepaid card.

Both my parents have received calls in different occasions from Tucson Electric Power in Spanish telling them that their service will be cut off within 45 minutes for lack of payment.

I got a call from 800-780-5873...he said I owed money on my electric bill from TEP...he finally said I would have to pay 498.11 to not have my electricity cut off. This is a business that he called and my employee was in a panic. I called the 800 number they gave and said I had paid the bill but he said it was not enough. If I wanted to keep my electricity from being cut off I needed to go to either a CVS, Walgreens, or Wal Mart and pay via Green Dot, which I had never heard of. They would not take my debit card. My bills run into a couple of thousand so I found this amount suspect. I said I would go..In the meantime my office manager called and said the bill had been paid, which I was sure it had been. I went back to the house and called TEP as they were still open. They said they would never warn us...they would just come cut us off if we were delinquent, which I was not. She said I was being scammed. Then the supposed person who was coming to cut me off texted me on my cell and said he would be there in 8 minutes, to take care of my bill in the 8 minutes...then he actually called me. I answered the phone and told him I knew he was a scam and that I was calling the police, which I did. They took all my info and were aware of my business and had used it many times...Said he would turn in the scam report. How is it that this business is scamming people? I am calling Kearny, which is where the other call came from and talking to the law there today. This is ridiculous and has to stop.
