A woman (Marry Johnson) claiming to be the HR Manager of Tencent contacted me via text message about employment. She then referred me to contact another person (Bryan Wenzel) via Whatsapp who claimed he is the online hiring manager for the same company. I chose that app specifically when she gave me several choices because I suspected it was a scam and I also know legitimate companies do not operate via whatsapp. Bryan Wenzel said they are trying to establish the company in the U.S. and are hiring work from home candidates to further that goal. The company already has offices in Palo Alto. He said he would send a digital check to me for the purchase of necessary equipment. I expressed concern about the use of a check and it not clearing. He said it would clear because it's drawn on a legitimate business so I had nothing to worry about.. The conversation was terminated by him when I said I don't use a bank app. He specifically stated the check would be in digital format, sent to my email and he wanted it added to my bank via mobile deposit.
