I have a Roku and have had no problems until the other day. Now I use Netflix, Star, Hulu and my local cable company on the same device. However I tried to use Hulu and this big message came across the screen...Warnings of all kinds... Everything that was mentioned above happened to me. First he said there was no charge, then he said it was $149.00 for a year, then I told him no thanks...then he said he could clear this up for $100.00 and guarantee for 6 months. My card card has been charged. The next day I get a very unprofessional letter...no letter head, no titles or nothing. Then I new there was a problem. I went on there website and sent an email... explaining my concerns. Two men called me back...I am not impressed. I have changed my online passwords and will be calling my bank for reverse charges.

Yes Phyllis we see to it that you had 6 months of servicesfor which you paid us $100 to us and we are reachable via email and Tollfree both but never received anything anywhere. You should have called if you had an issue?

I purchased a Roku stick and it wouldn't work. I thought I was on Roku help site. On this site a chat help opened. She typed in hi, this is Stephanie. I got this same name two different days as I've been trying to get my Roku set up for days now.

She opened another small window that had a spot for my name and phone and said our technician is calling you now. He will walk you through it.

Once I got on the phone this person said I would see he's typing info on my computer, just in case I noticed the mouse moving.

Then he said I need to type in a credit card. He typed in a spot for my name, card number, expiration date, and the security number on back of card.

I asked why they needed this. He said it's only a deposit.

Then he asked how long do you want to use your Roku?

I said why, I am not sure. He said if I wanted to use 5 years, it's 700.00 deposit. One year just 200.00.

I said I was told there isn't any fee.

He said it's just to activate my account, that they put the money back in my account over a period of the next 6 months.

I am disabled, so I asked if I could use my PayPal account. He said sure and the PayPal login page is now pulled up on my screen.

I logged in and paid, and after that he was having the exact problem I had been having for two days.

Now I was starting to panic.

I put him on hold, called my son and he searched and said "it's a scam''

In the meantime, this person is calling, he called 12 times while I was on the phone.

My son walked me through trying to clear out everything because now I know he has access to everything including my bank account.

I contacted PayPal and my bank and have extra security now. Changed my passwords etc... After I got off the phone I went to look at my computer and I had a screen warning that my system has been infected. Do not turn off or do anything. Call this number within the next five minutes or you could lose your data.

I googled the number and it was on a scam list, so it's step two or three of their scam.

This has been a very scary experience and I am still afraid to use my PC until my son comes out to make sure it's safe. Roku's website looks identical to the one I was on. PayPal did reverse the money, so they didn't get away with it today. Just hoping they can't access anything else.

On 11/16/17, I purchase a ROKU smart TV. During setup, we got to the point when I needed to activate the TV on the ROCU network. We were instructed to go to ROKU.com/link and enter a 4 digit code. We entered ROCU.com/link. We then entered the code, at which time we received a message indicating that a network problem was discovered and we should dial 844-332-7040. The call was answered by a person who identified himself as Kevin Johnson a ROKU support technician. He explained that he was very familiar with the issue and he could revolve it quickly. To do that

He would require access to my laptop. He instructed me activate a program “GOASSIST” which grant him completed control. He then stated that my laptop was completely infected and my data is corrupted. He began to list the steps required to resolve the issues. I asked for confirmation that he was a ROKU technician. He got very defensive and said it would cost me $100 to fix. I then requested a different technician or his supervisor. He said I had wasted his time and I must pay him $100, in the form of an ITUNES gift card, which I could obtain at any supermarket. I told him I didn’t see why I needed to paid $100 to get a new $135 TV to work. He then called me a Mother [censored] and said he was locking me out of my laptop. It would now cost $200 to unlock. I questioned, why I couldn’t use a credit card. He said all my credit card info had been corrupted. He then reduced the charge back down to $100. I then ending the call. A short time later, A logon screen appeared on my laptop. He had changed the password and I couldn’t get in. I’m now in the process of having BestBuy reload the laptop.

After some investigation, I identified the culprit as TekGlance, 9245 Laguna Springs Dr. Suite 200 Elk Grove, CA 95758.
