The scammer randomly texted me stating that my resume/portfolio was wonderful and they would like to have me speak with HR for an interview. This was really weird to me so I asked them how did they find my information and they told me this career website that I was in fact recently on forwarded my information to that (red flag number 1). Not thinking anything of it I continued to go on with the “interview”. So they had me give them my zoom information and the “HR” immediately contacted me for an “interview”(red flag # 2). At first the interview seem legit and I went through with it. Then they continued on asking for my bank and provider (red flag # 3)not thinking anything of it I gave them the information. It did not dawn on me that this was a scam until the next day, I reread our conversation and then they proceeded to ask me for a down payment ( where my common sense finally kicked in) and that’s where I blocked them and did a little more research. Now when they first contacted me they immediately hired me and gave me a check for a lump sum of money. When I recognized what was going on i immediately called my bank and stopped the payment. They do have my name, age,address and dob. But I’m hoping that nothing else will happen because I did not give them my ssn. I know times are hard but be a little smarter than me when it comes to situations like these.
