I hired Jessica to draw up and file my business taxes for 2020 and 2021. The first year was ok and went smoothly but the second year was a nightmare! For nearly 6 months, she did not respond to our personal emails and rather would sent group automated emails to her clients apologizing for delayed communications and failed to complete or submit our 2021 business taxes. Originally, she said she filed an extension and that we did not owe any money but she quickly kept changing her story and soon we found out that she had not even started on our taxes and we were already accruing late fees and penalties from the government (over $3k in fees). We had a payment plan with her ... the first payment was paid and we held off on the final payment until she could show proof that she did any of the work. She could not. After pressing her many times for answers, she cancelled our contract and claimed it was due to 'non-payment' of the final payment. We hired a new accountant and he discovered that Jessica had taken our payment but had not done any work on the account. She told us we didn't owe any taxes when in reality we ended up owing over $30k in business taxes and additional fees and penalties because of her poor job/lack of progress. Shortly after this happened, she moved out of state to Idaho and two other small businesses that worked with her had contacted me in frustration claiming that she screwed them over as well. We all owe so much money because of her lack of professionalism, lack of knowledge, and poor direction.
