An employer named Qwin Tare posted a Chinese-English translation advertisement on Upwork on August 30, 2023, and Upwork verified his payment method. Since I am a new user of Upwork, I sent in my application for this job after seeing the ad, and I got a quick reply asking me to add Mark Josh's Telegram. Once I started talking to Mark Josh on telegram, he asked me to translate a short English paragraph into Chinese within 30 minutes. After I completed it, he informed me that I had passed the test, and then he sent me their company website, https://taskproximiti.com/contact/, asking me to sign an electronic contract and complete the agreement contract form using the link: https://forms.gle/gc3Ma47vdanHuJvaA. The task is to translate a 20-page book (5176 words), and the project needs to be completed within three days. The translation fee is 2400 USD. Since I saw that the company address displayed on the website is in Vermont, USA, the company's name, “Task Proximiti” was printed on the work contract, and the pay for the translation was considerable, I agreed to sign the contract. I submitted my translated documents to Mark Josh the day before yesterday, and he asked me to add payment manager Lorenzo Jimmy’s Telegram. After that, Jimmy quickly asked me to provide my bank account number and Chinese ID number, stating this was the information required for the remuneration transfers. So, I provided my bank account number and uploaded my ID photo on the link he provided. Then he said that the transfer had taken place, but there was a minor hold that prevented the money from being transferred, and he needed me to pay this one-time activation fee of 120 dollars to authorize Task Proximiti to wire the money. He first suggested using apps such as BINANCE & SKRILL. Since I had never used these apps, he told me to transfer the money through the Chinese apps WeChat or Alipay. Once I paid the 120 dollars to him through Aplipay, he sent me another file stating that I needed to pay another small clearance fee of 250 dollars due to continental clearance procedures. That was when I realized that they were scammers. I want to report their company website, which seems to be legitimate and credible at first glance, and request it to be taken down from Google, as they not only defrauded labor but also defrauded money and stole personal identity information, posing serious harm to any potential victims out there who might fall into their traps like me.

The fraudster posed as a freelancer company, offering enticing work opportunities with the assurance of payment upon project completion. However, upon successfully finishing the task, they demanded a sum of money to release the promised payment.
