Type of a scam Employment
On Tuesday, July 5, 2022 I received a text message from a “Karen ********” saying I was chosen based on my resume on Indeed for an interview with Talisen Technologies (a real company). She instructed me to download the Telegram app to contact “Mr. Scott ******”. I downloaded the app. “Mr. Garcia” asked me standard interview questions. He provided me with a job description PDF. Later that same day he said I was hired for the Virtual Administrative Assistant position. I received an email from “Jonathan ********” using the gmail account. It had a company contract with the company’s true address, logo, water mark. It was signed by a “Kathy *****”. There was also a blank W2 and it requested a scanned copy of my driver’s license. I completed the form providing my name, address, date of birth, and social security number and sent a copy of my driver’s license. Mr. ****** continued to message me via the Telegram app and explained the pay, benefits, and job details. He told me I would be setting up a mini home office. He said that they would be sending me a check to purchase the items for the home office. He tried to send me a “check” via FedEx. It got delayed and stuck in Sherman, Tx. Then he texted me on Monday, July 11, 2022 informing me that he sent a new package and it would arrive via UPS.
On July 11, 2022 I called the actual Talisen Technologies company to confirm that I had been hired and they informed me that unfortunately it was a scam.
On July 12, 2022 I received the “package” via ups.
