Type of a scam Employment

Using my resume on Career Builders, they approached me via text about a remote position working from home. They wanted to do an initial interview via Microsoft Teams and a Zoom meeting later. During the interview, they asked general business questions, nothing alarming. I asked where the headquarters were and was told Japan but they had an American office in IL. After the interview, they offered a Data Entry position and were told they would provide all the equipment. I didn't become alarmed until they said they were going to send me a 'check' so I can buy all the equipment. I have worked a remote job before and the company sends all the equipment or has me pick it up from a local location. When I told the rep, Mary Huff, on Teams that I wasn't comfortable with that kind of arrangement I got ghosted. This person does have my home and email address but no banking acct numbers only the name. I am frustrated I spent about 2 hours thinking this was legit only to discover it was a scam. I did tell the person I was reporting them.
