Beware of scammers on AngelList.com offering fake internships. My daughter who is a college student applied for a tech internship that was listed under a legit company Swimkids.us on AngelList site offering paid internships where they conduct actual interviews and offer fake contracts. Once confirmed, they sent a fake check for $1900 to be deposited to purchase equipment for internship. Once check clears, the contact victim to wire $500 to vendor for equipment. Unfortunately, my daughter lost $500 after bank alerted her a fraudulent check. Founder and COO Kevin Laws of AngelList should have some accountability of businesses advertised on his site. A fraud claim was reported through the bank and my daughter also reported incident to the local authorities.
