I called a number I found online for Amazon Customer Service to inquire about a returned product I was charged for. I was connected to an impatient person at a call center and they said they ran a security check while we were on the phpne and that someone had created an Amazon Business account and tried to purchase a MacBook air the day before and if it had been 30 minutes later, the debit would have gone through. Weird, since I called them! They had all of my account information and then transferred me to the "FTC" to report this issue. After a few minutes I became suspicious and told them so. He asked me why I felt suspicious and I told him I was hanging up. His response was that I would now have to have my attorney contact them to resolve this issue. He also sent me an email (he already had my address) that subscribed me to the "FTC" updates. He abruptly hung up!
