Type of a scam Online Purchase
Personally, this page followed me a couple weeks ago and I followed them back. After reviewing their page, on 2/13 I inquired on a purchasing a wig through their direct messages. They let me know that the wig was available for purchase. They asked for my address, told me the amount of the wig ($134), provided me with their cashapp tag for purchase ($MiaKMoney), and let me know that they would send out the wig Monday, 2/15. After I let the individual know that I sent them the money through cashapp, they no longer communicated with me. I reached out to them again on 2/15 and asked if they could provide me with the tracking information for the order I placed. I suddenly received notifications that someone was unsending their messages to me on Instagram. I checked the messaging thread involving the individual and saw that they unsent all of the messages they sent to me. After pressing their page I soon saw that I was blocked. I quickly reported the payment I made on cashapp and I am still waiting on an update for that.
After doing a little investigating on if anyone else had an issue with this same person, the person who originally made the wigs made a post trying to warn others that this person was scamming others ************* *** *** ********. I also saw that another person who was scammed in the past made a page informing others of this (@styledbymiakisascampage via Instagram). Unfortunately I did not see any of this until after I realized I had been scammed myself. There have been other people commenting under this page stated that they have been scammed as well.
Overall, this person steals wig pictures from the business ************************** through social media, claims she’s selling them, unsends their messages, and blocks the buyers once they send their money. They also have an appointment link in the biography of their page that creates fake hair appointments and take deposits.
