I have received numerous phone calls (always from a different number), claiming to be a company focusing on student loan forgiveness. The callers always have an Indian accent, but sometimes the calls begin with an American-voiced recording. When you talk to the representative, they claim to have connections with the DOE. And if you inquire, the only charge a "small fee" to help get your loans forgiven. I couldn't fully understand what they were requesting, but I did take away that my "first three payments" will be $235 each. And all payments must be made through a pre-paid card.
