Student Loan Assist contacted me regarding my student loans and said they were contracted with the U.S. Department of Education. The representative proceeded to ask me a number of questions and then pulled up my student loan account. The representative then insisted I finish the account and I asked for the name of the company. I Googled the company with him on the line and let him know that I was becoming doubtful that this was legit and believed this was a scam. He proceeded to reassure me by insisting that he would send me my incomplete application via email. When I received it, it was from a random Gmail account and the application was very poorly written. I let him know that I would be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the call dropped.

These people called to say that they were a student loan relief company and ask me for my social but I refused to give it to them. Then they hung up on me. I called back on their other line to only get a woman answer saying hello and not introducing their companies name. Red flag. I also ask were they affiliated with the dept of education and he said no. Another red flag. So I told him to send all correspondence to my email since they had that. They were also trying to charge for something that is free. Red flag.
