Found a puppy that we liked on a website so I gave them my info to contact. the next day we corresponded by email and got the location of the breeder. They told me the price was $650 for the puppy and that they would have no problem shipping the dog anywhere in the US. and we could arrange for him to be delivered within 48 hours to the nearest airport which I provided. I told them that I could pick the dog up directly and would not need the shipping company to deliver directly to my home. He convinced me to let the shipping company handle it because it was free delivery from the airport so I agreed. They told me I would need to sign a contract and send them the money through Zelle to the wife's account. Once the money was sent they wanted a picture of the money transfer sent. Also said to put specific information into the memo for tax purposes. I signed the contract and sent the money and he told me that he would start the shipping process tomorrow. He provided me with a tracking number for the shipping company called Al Fast Safe Movers. The next day received an email from [email protected] telling me that the puppy was vaccinated and he passed all tests and was capable of the flight but that we would have to pay $998.95 for insurance that we would get reimbursed 95% of the fee once the puppy arrived at our house. Also requested the money be sent to another Zelle account with the name Wiltora Stanley with specific wording to complete the shipping. The money was transferred and they said they would be in touch once the puppy arrived with an estimate of the time they would be arriving. After this last correspondence, it was the last time I heard anything from the so called shipping company. The tracking number I got gave me info that was grayed out in the tracking page for the website, that never changed so it was not legitimate. I waited up til 9:30 pm that evening for a call and never received one ,so I became suspicious and called the airport to ask if any flights had come in from Tampa. The lady told me that there are no flights from Tampa that fly into the airport on that day so I realized that we had just got scammed out of $1850. I messaged the guy and he responded the next day and acted all surprised and said what are you talking about there's no dog? I told him he could stop pretending that he even had one to begin with. It really is pathetic that people can stoop so low as to take money from innocent people but this is one of the biggest scam practices out there
