3 men came to the door and offered to sell and spread pine needles for $6 per bale. In about 15 minutes they were finished and presented a bill for 265 bales used. Having done this myself in the past I know that it only takes 50 bales to cover all the beds. Not having watched the bales being spread I did not feel I could accurately determine how much was used. After arguing they became rather threatening so I paid them. In hind sight, this was obviously a scam. The work should have been $500 - 600 max, but was $1590. Charging approximately 3 times the actual work is apparently routine for this scam based on a quick internet search. Please advise people not to be like me and simply relent and pay to get them to move on. Should have called the police.
