The scammer reached out to me first through text message for an interview under a different name called Jeremy. I applied to a remote job on indeed and I think scammers are posing as companies to get people's information. Then I received a message via Telegram (like whatsApp) from Avital Azar who claim she is the hiring manager for Store-Dot USA. I thought it was legit at first because she reached out via email as well. The position was well explained and she sent PDF W-4, I-9, code of conduct, and handbook. I mean all the required documents needed to get hired from a company. After many instructions later, she sent a check for $4,982.47 for materials and equipment needed to perform the job at my home. She wanted me to send some money to their vendor because they get a discount and I keep the rest. She wanted me to do Zenapp bitcoin or google pay their vendor. After research, the company has a website and she has social media presence, but my theory is somebody stole her identity to get money. I may question Indeed.com about their web security. This company is in Israel and she said they will build in Houston. I call this case a high profile scam.
